Artist's Statement:

I sketched this portrait of my grandson many years ago and saved it thinking some day I might use it. When I read about this contest I thought I might like to do something with flowers. This portrait fell out of my stash of scraps, one thing led to another and this evolved. I used hand applique, raw edge applique, thread painting, machine quilting, and hand beading.
