The quilt was made by an Egyptian tentmaker artist, featured in the exhibit, “Stitch Like an Egyptian: The Tentmakers of Cairo,” at the American Quilter's Society Show in Grand Rapids, Michigan, August 22-25, 2012. The exhibit was curated by Jenny Bowker. Tentmaker work is brilliantly colored appliqué, usually made by men. The work isused to line tents or screens covered in appliqué.
