"I drafted the block from a picture of an old block." How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "I began quilting in 1986. I'm mostly self-taught. I own lots of books for reference. I've also taken classes." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Winning the $10,000 prize has changed the way others view my quiltmaking. It's validation of the value of the quilt that everyone can relate to. The quilt was subsequently purchased by Lands' End for their corporate art collection."
