Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:

The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: Where did you learn the pattern? "I made the pattern. Appliqued calla lily with leaves." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "Went to a quilt shop searching for the right shade of pink to make the lilies, also found the perfect green with white dots to make the leaves. The real calla leaf has white dots on some of the leaves so this fabric made my leaves more real. I only use 100% cotton fabric in my quilts." "I used bias tape around the edge of the lily for shading." How long have you been making quilts? "10 yrs." How did you learn to quilt? "By watching my mother and older sisters who had to make quilts to keep a family with 12 warm in the winter." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "My granddaughter insisted and encouraged me to enter. She said, I know you can win." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Yes, it has also given me confidence and made me feel really good about my work. This was the first contest for me and I still can't believe I won for MS. I will always be grateful to Lands' End for having this contest. Thank you for the fine work you are doing and for this letter. Good luck and may God bless you."
