Twenty-five of the inscriptions are embroidered. The most common color used is red thread, in which twenty names appear. Followed by gold thread which appears twice and then one name each in black, green and tan. Fifteen of the inscriptions are done with black ink. The many different inscription methods and variations in block designs indicate that the quilt was probably a collaborative project.
