Grid/crosshatch hanging diamonds are quilted in an all over pattern. The size of the grid was determined by the size of the small square print patches. The stitches are small size and even.

The owner purchased the quilt at a fair in Door County, Wisconsin. The seller was a woman from Boulder/Boulder County, Colorado. She purchased the quilt from St. Louis/St. Louis County, Missouri. The quilt was made in Indiana so it has traveled to many places.

Barbara Brackman attributes the pattern "Three Irish Chains" to the Mountain Mist Company. In 1929 Ruth Finley published the " The Triple Irish Chain" in her book, "Old Patchwork Quilts and the Women Who Made Them."
