Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
One of the original 101 quilts donated by Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO, to start the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Made by Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO. Eugenia hated to see anything go to waste. In 1943, her son salvaged the large flag from a July 4th bandstand bunting, and Eugenia retrieved the small flags from veterans' graves after Memorial Day 1979 (with permission). Ownership/History: Bandstand bunting from a July 4, 1943 celebration in Kirkwood, MO, was thrown in the dump and retrieved by Eugenia Mitchell's son. In 1979, Eugenia asked the Golden (Colorado) Cemetery sexton for permission to use the small, discarded flags from veterans' graves. She combined these to make the quilt.
