This quilt was made c.1930 by Bess Dickinson Appel (1887-1977). The established pattern name is Tulip Block - Ladies Art Co. #65. Bright yellow and green cotton fabrics were used to create the tulips. Each tulip is embroidered by hand around the edge with matching yellow and green thread, using buttonhole stitch. One of several quilts made by members of the Appel family and donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.
