Describe anything about the design of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

In 1936 when my twin sister (Beverly Ann Dodson) and I were born, we lived in a small house on Central Avenue in Charleston. Our first winter was very cold, and our grandmother (Lucy Anna Lewis), Birch River, WV - our mother's mother) worried that we would get cold because of our baby bed mattresses was thin. So, she made a quilt to put under the mattress, on top of the springs, to keep out any "cold drafts". Somehow she got a "book" of samples of wool fabric that traveling salesmen used to carry as they went across the country for people to choose from when ordering a new suit. She sewed these sample pieces together, backed them with grey flannel, and tied the quilt. It's not very "pretty", but it did the intended job and is filled with her love Rosalie (Dodson) Glenn Route 8 Box 448 South Charleston WV 25309 Phone: 304-744-1837
