Artist's Statement:

As a child, I did lots of leaf raking. Red maples were the flashiest, yellow beeches were lovely, but I was drawn to the rich russet orange color of the oaks and all the shapes an oak could take. When I discovered quilting, I loved the oak leaf applique patterns, but wasn't fond of applique. So here is my oak leaf pattern, which just may inspire me to embrace traditional applique.
