Artist's Statement:

We recently lost our eldest son in a tragic accident. When I realized it was time to stop wallowing in grief, I looked for an intellectual way to draw myself out. I tried to think of something positive I had learned from the experience: to cherish joy. I listed words and expressions regarding what I hoped I had learned. When I saw the inspiration quilt, I knew that my list would become a quilt.
