This maker made other quilts that are in the possession of each of the great grandchildren. There is a picture of the quiltmaker. She had letters from her Confederate soldier, but her request was to be buried with his letters. The owner has quilts made by her husband's mother.

Susan was widowed by the Civil War. She reared two daughters alone and lived with them 6 month each after they married. That was probably when she quilted a great deal.
