Old-Time Nosegay - Leaflet No. 9

By Edith B. Crumb.

The flower right in the center of this bouquet is a water lily and may be developed in yellows or lavenders; but I would suggest the latter so that you may use yellow for the spotted crane's bill flowers which are the five-petalled ones on each side of the water lily. And the trillium at the top should be in pink, so you will have the necessary variety in color with the blue and pink forget-me-nots and the green leaves.

In choosing the colors I would suggest lavender print for No. 14, and plain lavender for all the outer petals represented by No. 13. The center 15 should be pale yellow, the small crescent piece (unnumbered) being cut from pale green.

No. 10 should be yellow print; No. 12, a trilium in pink print with a rose center and light green outer petal at No. 11.

Nos. 7 and 9 may be blue forget-me-nots and No. 8 a pink forget-me-knot. The leaves Nos. 4, 5 and 6 may be in green.

The leaf marked No. 4 should be put on after the stem No. 3 and then the leaves Nos. 5 and 6. forget-me-nots go on next in order being Nos. 7, 8 and 9. The crane's bill, No. 10, should go next, the center of the flower and the stamens being worked in soft, fast color henna, embroidery cotton.

The centers of the forget-me-nots may be worked in yellow cotton, using the satin stitch.
