Scarlett Rose started sewing when she was in middle school and began quilting in 1976. She was inspired by her grandmother’s four quilts that the family found in one of the trunks stored in the barn. She began designing and publishing her own patterns, competing with her quilts and teaching quilting by the mid 1980s.
Scarlett is a quilt judge, judging at county fairs and national quilt shows. She is the author of two books, Celtic Style Floral Applique and Baskets: Celtic Style, both published by the American Quilter’s Society during the 1990s. She volunteered with her local PBS station, KIXE Channel 9, eventually becoming a co-producer of their award winning Northstate Quilts program that ran from 1999 to 2006. Scarlett is a Spoonflower custom fabric print designer with her distinctive patchwork inspired prints.
In 2022, Scarlett became a board member of the California Heritage Quilt Project. She had volunteered at Quilt Documentation Days held back in 1985 by the CHQP. Her goal is to help document the quilts and quiltmakers of California.
