Sally Crane Jones came to Wisconsin from Vermont in 1837, one of the first families to settle in Fort Atkinson. She was the creator of the Jones Sausage recipe. She ran the Green Mountain House with her husband Milo. She was left alone to raise their children for months at a time because her husband, Milo, was a federal land surveyor. He surveyed Wisconsin when it was still the Michigan Territory.
