This is one of two appliques (see #088) Gasperik made for granddaughter Susan Krueger. Susan is not sure exactly when they were made, but remembers them hanging on the wall of her bedroom from 1945 (when the Kruegers moved into the house at 5317 University Ave. in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago) onward. Gasperik's original framing disintegrated; so Susan had them reframed in the 1990s.

Grand-daughter Susan Salser began this research effort in 1991, after she and her two sisters divided up the quilts which belonged to their mother (Elsie Gasperik Krueger) who died in 1988. Her ongoing research has been fruitful and interesting.
