Indian Block made in 1943 for Karen Krueger. It is Gasperik's first Indian block - and also the simplest. All three Krueger blocks were framed by their mother Elsie. Compare to #093 Indian block made in 1954 for grandson, Michael.

Essay:

Since this is the first Gasperik Indian applique, and it is dated 1943, the logical place to begin a search for a possible children's book source would be illustrated children's books published in 1943 (or a bit earlier).
