I inherited it from my uncle. The quilt was wrapped around the family silver and buried during the Civil War.

It was made by member's of my great-grandfather's singing school in appreciation for his teaching them to sing.

It was made for my great-grandfather Hezikiah Washington Bowie. The members of Hezekiah Washington Bowie's singing school each did a square and had a quilting bee and party to put it together for him.
