Claire and Ray Vlasin Collect Antique Quilts
Claire and Ray began collecting in the 1980s. They shopped at local estate sales and frequented antique shops when they travelled. On their 40th wedding anniversary Ray bought a special quilt for Claire.
The family has been finding new homes for quilts in this collection. Currently quilts have been accessioned into the collections of the Smithsonian; the International Quilt Study Center and Museum (in Lincoln, Nebraska where Claire went to nursing school); and the Michigan State University Museum at Michigan State University where Ray spent the majority of his career in the business school.
Ray Vlasin with the Crazy Quilt he bought Claire for their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
