Marin F. Hanson, assistant curator of the International Quilt Study Center, holds undergraduate degrees from Grinnell College and Northern Illinois University and a M.A. degree in textile history, quilt studies emphasis, and museum studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She recently curated the IQSC exhibi­tion "Reflections of the Exotic East in American Quilts" and authored the accom­panying catalog (2001). Her scholarly work also focuses on the use of databases in facilitating broad-scale quilt research.

Janneken Smucker holds a M.A. in textile history, quilt studies emphasis, with a minor in museum studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She recently co-authored Amish Crib Quilts from the Midwest: The Sara Miller Collection (2003) and curated the exhibition "At the Crossing: Midwestern Amish Crib Quilts and the Intersection of Cultures," sponsored by IQSC. Her research interests center on intercultural themes with particular focus on Anabaptist history and Amish and Mennonite quilts and quiltmakers.
