By: Gregory, Jonathan

Jonathan Gregory is a doctoral student in textile history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a student, he serves as editorial assistant for the International Quilt Study Center's cataloging project funded by the John P. Getty Foundation and has contributed research and content to the volume; works as curatorial assistant for Quilting Across the Globe, a project that engages international audiences in learning about quilts as a worldwide art form; coordinated Give and Take, a national exhibition of studio art quilts; and researched quiltmaking for the families of American military personnel killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. His research continues to focus upon quiltmaking that is associated with war and the social meanings and functions of quilts. Mr. Gregory learned to sew and quilt as a child but is a recent "convert" to quilt studies after completing a career in human resources and business management. He obtained a BS in human resources management from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, and an MA in textile history/quilt studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

When AQSG added Uncoverings articles to the Quilt Index, they omitted all the illustrations, for lack of permissions. Although the articles found in the QI (1980-2010, 2012-2016) lack illustrations, they link to quilts, essays, special collections, and documentation projects across the Quilt Index, introducing them to a wider audience. The permission issues have since been resolved and in 2024, AQSG completed adding all the Uncoverings volumes from 1980-2023 to the Digital Commons@University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They are completely searchable and include all the illustrations. You can find, Uncoverings 2007, Volume 28, at this link, https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/aqsg-uncoverings/33/.
