Horoscope Quilt - Pattern No. 34
Scorpio

By Edith B. Crumb.

Such a creature! Such angles and such curves! Be sure to take small stitches whether you are using the regular outline stitch or the chain stitch. Too large stitches will make the work look spidery and will spoil the many angles and sharp turns in the scorpion.

The chrysanthemum which is almost as ragges as the scorpion is the favorite flower. The birth stone is the topaz and crimson or dark red is the favorite color.

The most harmonious sign to be used next to Scorpio is Cancer. Next in harmonyh is Pisces, then Virgo, next Capricorn and lastly Taurus.

Now that the quilt is nearing completion we can consider just how we will finish the edge. It may be scalloped but, after all, the general effect of this quilt is rectangles and squares. It seems to me that straight edge is better.

After the quilt has been finished and quilted, the edges will be trimmed and the binding put on. The blue design, those tiny waves or clouds that are on the bottom of each border block are embroidered in blue. Blue could well be used as a binding, although I see no objection to using white. Begin to think it over for the decision is not so far off.
