A portion of a Beauty in the Home column including letters from Quilt Club members, an advertisement for the second pattern leaflet for the Horoscope quilt, and a coupon for Quilt Club membership.
(clipping cut-off)… could have, in addition to the desk and chair as shown, a hanging shelf, for reference books should not be far from the study desk.

As a room for a boy this would be very ideal, the walls being treated with paper having a design of boats and light-houses in bright colors.

The floor covering might be of deep blue carpeting, while the window treatment may be nothing more than white or cream dotted muslin curtains finished with cotton ball fringe and caught back with a narrow band of the muslin trimmed in the same manner.

The furniture may be of maple and consist of a low four-poster bed, chest of drawers, small table and upholstered chair.

The spread may be of red and white waffle linen and the covering for the chair may be of red ground chintz with white star design.

The woodwork may be finished to match the background of the paper and interior of the shelves would be attractive if finished deep blue or red.

Draperies would not fit into a room of this type, for the figured paper would not allow for patterned material at the windows, and because it is for a boy, it would be more appropriate to leave the rooms as simply treated as possible.

Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, and Syracuse, New York, are represented in our membership list today for teh Beauty in the Home Quilt Club, and many interesting letters have been received from Detroit and nearby towns. A few are given here.

I have the first of the Horoscope quilt patterns and have registered in the Club. I enjoy the Dresden Plate quilt pattern I received from The Detroit News. I made one of pink and green broadcloth and just have to quilt it now.

I also made one of red, white and blue broadcloth. I had to add one more block to this last as there are only 20 blocks to one big block. This was the first quilt I ever made so I was up against a lot of things, but it turned out fine.

I have the Double Wedding Rling almost pieced. I will come again, if I may, and tell you about my experience in quilting.
Mrs. G. C. H.

Of course, you may come again, Mrs. H. The Club will be happy to have your letter. All are encouraged to write and get better acquainted. Who every heard of a quilt club without a lot of conversation?

I would like to become a member of your Quilt Club. I have just finished my second quilt and expect to start the Horoscope pattern.

I am a widow, having just lost my husband and sewing helps me to keep more contented. I am awfully anxious to start the quilt and I wish your Club much success. I am 23 years old.
Mrs. M. G.

Age does not have much to with quilt-making, does it, Mrs. G.? We have members ranging from 19 to 73 and all are enthusiastic. Glad to know that you have found something to keep you contentedly occupied.

On leaflet one is the design of figured material with white background as it looks or plain white?

I made four quilts last year and was the first, I think, to have my flower garden quilt finished. Do you remember? I quilted it before you even gave the quilting design - as soon as the last block was out.

I want to keep ut with this one too. I have been helping others one day a week for the last two weeks and expect to keep it up for a while.

By this you may think I am a grandmother, but I am only a young mother with two small children. I also made quilts for them, one is an A. B. C. and the other with a design of chickens. I sure enjoy this quilt making and am now finishing an Irish chain design.
Mrs. L. W.

The design on the first pattern is a white ground flowered or small figured print.

You must be a very busy person. Yes, I remember, I believe, about how quickly you finished the quilt last year. Do write again.
