Beauty in the Home
…Dining Room…Has Old-time Charm

by Edith B. Crumb
This department seeks to give assistance to all who are interested in beautifying their homes and will be glad to answer questions pertaining to interior decoration. In order to serve all who, seek advice promptly no more than three problems will be discussed in any one reply. Readers are invited to write to this department as often as they wish, but to limit each letter to three questions. State your question clearly write on only one side of the paper, enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope and address Beauty in the Home department, Detroit News. Letters with their answers will be published for the benefit of all homemakers but names and addresses will not be made public.

(clipping cut-off)…sepia ground semi glazed chintz with small floral and border design in yellow, orange and green would be in keeping with the scheme. These tones are so harmonious with the old wood of the background.

A sofa, wing chair high boy stand top desk and a pair of Windsor chair might be added to this scheme and if cushions were desired for the dining chairs they might be covered with material to match the draperies.

Early American pattern glass would be charming and suitable for use on a table such as this and of course, pewter plates, pitches and coasters would also be pleasing.

Quilt Club Corner
Of course I listen to the Corner. Wouldn’t miss it for anything. I have the materials for my Trip so I’ll have to hurry to catch up with the rest of the people. More power to the Corner!
Mrs. Albert Wahrman
Romulus, Mich.

Thank you so much, Mrs. Wahrman, for writing that card in to the Corner and I hope you will do this real often for every bit of correspondence is considered important and very welcome.

It must be at least six months since my last letter. At that time, I started a Dresden Plate but have not worked on it for some time. I just started to work on it this evening again.
Mrs. M.C.
Ferndale, Mich.

Now don’t wait so long before writing again, Mrs. C and now that you have started quilt making again perhaps it won’t be long before you will finish that Dresden Plate. Why not work hard on it so that it will be ready for the Contest?
