Brother-Sister Quilts-Leaflet No. 4

By Edith B. Crumb.

Did you like Marie Estells, the little doll for the first block of the Sister quilt which was announced last week? I am sure you did and here is a little playmate for her - and her name is Frances Ann.

Use yellow for the hair, pale yellow for the socks and yoke, sun tan for face, neck, arms and legs, and dark brown for the shoes. Have the hair ribbons the same color as the dress. Of course, you may embroider the hair ribbon if you care to do so. Embroider blue eyes and red lips. Make a second block just like this and set it aside for later use. You may have different colors in the second one, if you wish.

After proceeding according to directions on leaflet No. 2, turn under edges of left hair and pin in place. Turn under edges of dress and baste. Slip left arm under dress and baste outside part. Baste right arm after turning edges. Baste the yoke in place. Slip the legs under dress, baste after turning under the edges. Baste socks, baste shoes. In both of these the raw edges are turned under first; and don't forget the small piece of hair at the left part of which extends under the face.

I think that Frances Ann would be attractive with a turquoise dress with soft yellow color, and the second doll just like her might have an orchid dress.
