Laurel Wreath Quilt - Leaflet No. 17
Arrowhead

The Arrowhead, as shown on this leaflet, is really supposed to be an all-white flower; but a white flower, even a print on a white ground is lost when appliqued to a white or light cream background. For the reason we use a figured material for this flower even though Nature choosed to grow it in white.

The leaves of this plant are actually quite like an arrow head. As shown here, the leaves are the conventional ones used throughout the entire quilt. It would prove just a bit disturbing if the leaves varied with each flower.

This is to be appliqued to a 12 1/2 by 12 1/2-inch square.

Use a print with any delicately colored background and fine design in white, or a contrasting color, and the center circle may be lemon yellow.
