A Big Cornerful of Letters for Quilt Club Enthusiasts

By Edith B. Crumb

Let's have a little letter reading day for a change. Once in a while I receive a letter asking for more letters in the paper so I think occasionally this kind of Corner is appreciated. Here goes: (and do write some more letters!)

Wants Neighborhood Club.
Dear Miss Crumb: I want to get started on another quilt when I get the materials together. I would like to start a neighborhood quilt club. I live out near East Warren avenue (just two blocks north of it).
Mrs. B. Gabriel
5520 Gulford Avenue
Detroit, Michigan

Now if anyone in this vicinity wants to join a neighborhood quilt club here is an opportunity. Why don't you get in touch with Mrs. Gabriel and perhaps you will get a little group of quilt-makers started

Is Making Hooked Rug.
I do wish someone would start a quilting club in my neighborhood Mother is making a hooked rug out of old stockings and silk pieces. It is very pretty so far only I'm afraid it's not going to be very large as our materials are just about gone.
Mrs. Henrietta Jones
16240 Monica Avenue
Detroit, Michigan

Instead of waiting for someone else to start a quilt club in your neighborhood, why don't you do the starting. Watch the papers for addresses in your vicinity and then try to get in touch with the members and see what you can do about it.

Oh, your mother will get the rug finished before she knows it. Small bits will accumulate from time to time and every little bit helps when it comes to making a rug.

A Busy Quilter.
Dear Miss Crumb: It has been a long time since I wrote so thought I would drop a few lines. I have been pretty busy with chicks, gardening, etc. but have made two baby bed quilts as I am grandmother now and have been very busy but I'll try to write more often now.

I want to see if I can make a quilt to enter this fall. Are we going to have any pieced patterns before then? I enjoy the radio program very much and hope that it is kept on for a long time. We get the paper whenever we go to tow. I wish we had lots of letters in the Sunday paper as we get it regularly, but the daily only when we get to town, which is only once or twice a week, so I miss the letters. Lots of luck and best wishes for the club.
Mrs. Josephine Pomorksi
Route No.2 Howell, Michigan

Well, it's just about time we had a letter from you, Mrs. Pomorski, and it certainly looked good to Beatrice and me. I know you must have been very busy out in the country this spring and summer, but I do hope that you will have time to make a quilt for the show. Yes, I think that I will put out two or three pieced patterns right away. That is a good idea

Message From Toledo.
Dear Miss crumb: If any Toledo members would like to see my Trip Around the Qorld I would be glad to show the,. If I am washing on Monday, I just fill up the machine and let it run while you are on the air. Furthermore, I take a clock to the laundry with me to make sure I do not miss you.
Mrs. Alida Koch
4028 Commonwealth Avenue, Toledo, Ohio

Well, that's one way to get a message to Toledo quilt makers- send it to Detroit to be sent back to Toledo. We have a large circle of listeners down there, though; and I wouldn't be surprised if you had a response to you offer. We are certainly putting clocks in the basement.
