Laurel Wreath Quilt - Leaflet No. 25
Lily

The Lily has been selected for this block which may be a lemon yellow, a tiger lily, or any vivid color. A white one should not be considered as it would not make the flower stand out when the background is cream or white.

This lily may be made in a number of ways. The calyx may be soft orange. The petals, which are shown figured, may be of a figured orange print. The upper petals may be of a lighter shade of yellow. Or the upper petals may be striped, the lower pair may be plain and the calyx may be of a deep shade. Or the lower pair of petals may be of polka dots of brown on a henna background with the upper petals of plain soft henna.

This flower is to be appliqued to a 12 1/2-inch x 12 1/2-inch square. Put the leaves on first, these being covered with the stem. The calyx is next, then the upper petals and lastly the pair of lower petals.
