Will You Be Among the First to Return Quilt Entry Card?
Star Design Always a Favorite
Catalog No. ID 25
Here is a quilt pattern that has never failed to bring praise from quilt-makers, old and new. It allows for the use of scraps or the combination of new materials, either plain or figured. As a spread for an old-fashioned type of bed, a quilt of this design would be very charming.

By Edith B. Crumb

The pattern for the "Eight Pointed Star" is one which will be a delight to many quilt-makers. The stars may be made of eight different kinds of material or with four of the triangles forming the points in the same plain color with the other four triangles in contrasting colors or a variety of materials. There are many possibilities for working out this old, old design.

If you are a quilt-collector you should have at least one star quilt "among those present," so why not send for this pattern and add it to your list.

Remember Number
If you wish this leaflet just send your address with five cents in postage to the Public Service Bureau of The Detroit News. Be sure to include the catalog number ID 25 and it, with any four other leaflets will be mailed to you unfolded to fit the new covers.

Or, if preferred you may call for them in person at The Detroit News Service Bureau in the main building of The Detroit News at Second and Lafayette boulevards, or at the branch office in the Majestic or the General Motors Buildings.

Will You Be First?
Double postal cards have been mailed to all Quilt Club Corner members and the prompt attention of every one in filling out the return card and sending it back to The Detroit News will be greatly appreciated. The names of the first 11 to reach the desk of the Quilt Club Corner editor will be published - as soon as possible after their arrival. Let's see if we can have that list in the paper on Thursday evening.

Special Story Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Wednesday, although it is not Quilt Club Corner day, there will be a story about some little boys and girls whose names are on an airplane quilt so you watch for this. And watch the paper daily from now until the Quilt Show, for as news items regarding quilts reach us they will be printed, regardless of the regular days that we have had for so long.

Keeps a Scrap Book.
Dear Miss Crumb: I enjoy your broadcast and wish you were on every day with some news of the Quilt Club. I wrote a card today to Mrs. Soelz. I have received some very nice quilt patches in exchanging and am keeping a scrap book for all of the letters which are in the paper.
Mrs. Fred Gilstorf,
4220 Porter street, Detroit, Mich.

I am sorry that Beatrice and I cannot be on the air every day. We would certainly enjoy it but it is not possible.

I am so glad that you wrote to Mrs. Soelz for she seems to need to hear from someone in order to keep her mind off from her worries.

Your scrap book will grow rapidly and I hope that you will find it interesting as you look through it in years to come.

Double Monkey Wrench Is Pretty Quilt Design

The Double Monkey Wrench is another of those quaint, old-time patterns for quilt making that our grandmother's used so effectively. "Church Dash" is another name for this design. There are many ways of working it out but if you have a basket of bits from other quilts, this is an excellent way to utilize them.

The catalog number of "The Double Monkey Wrench" leaflet is ID37.

To obtain this leaflet send your address and five cents postage to The Detroit News Public Service Bureau in the main building of The News at Second and Lafayette boulevards or at the branch offices in the General Motors or the Majestic Building.
