Jack Be Nimble

This block can be worked in an etching stitch in red, blue, green, or any plain color, or the entire block may be worked in applique.

The candle stick may be copper color, the candle, yellow and the flame bright red. Jack's suit may be bright blue, his hair yellow and his shoes brown. The face will be better etched than appliqued and may be outlined in brown or black, this also being the case with the stockings.

Jack's hair would be handsome if embroidered in solid stitch in yellow or brown, his shoes may also be embroidered and the flame would be more lively if embroidered with shiny silk thread.

In spirt of the fact that Jack has been considered a very nimble lad for years and years and years, it was never known that he has been able to jump all the way over that candlestick.

See general directions leaflet giving yardages and measurements of blocks, joining strips and borders of quilt.
