Mrs. Mayzie Hottum, of 26842 Norfolk avenue, brought this poppy quilt to the Quilt Club Corner meeting last Friday. Mrs. Selma Costa, 24845 Tuscany avenue, shown in the inset, helped her display it. The quilt is made with tangerine and green on a white background.

Cards and Letters Bring News of Absent Quilters
By Edith B. Crumb
Quilt Club Corner Editor the Detroit News
Do you realize that every Friday at the Quilt Club Corner meetings there are quilts on exhibit? Every member who has just finished one or has one which she thinks would interest us (and there isn't a quilt which does not) brings it down and we have an opportunity to examine it.

When Mrs. Selma Costa, 24845 Tuscany avenue, brought her friend, Mrs. Mary Hottum, 26842 Norfolk avenue, Inkster, to the Corner meeting, she helped make the exhibit a gay one for Mrs. Hottum brought this lovely appliqued poppy quilt which is shown in the illustration.

The background of the quilt is white and the design is in tangerine and green, the quilting being in two styles one in parallel lines and the other in a diamond lattice pattern. The quilting does not include the applique which gives the flowers a pulled and raised effect.

Be sure to bring a quilt or top to the meeting for us to see for we will enjoy having it there to make the afternoon an interesting one.

A card has been received from our friend, Mrs. C. Monroe who is staying in De Land, Fla. She says that she thinks of us often and wishes to be remembered to the Quilt club members.

Mrs. Bertha Weiss, 12710 Wark avenue, Detroit, has also written to tell us that she must obey doctor's orders and stay home and be quiet and she certainly gets lonesome but being able to sew on quilts helps her. She wants to know if any of you quilters can spare some nursery prints, for she needs some and it is not possible for her to do any shopping. She is looking forward to the time when she can see us again. Do drop her a note or card.

Mrs. Amelia Huber, 117 Oaklawn avenue, Battle Creek, has written that she has just recently returned to that city for an extended visit and has subscribed to The Detroit News so that she may again have the pleasure of reading about the Quilt Club And its many interesting incidents

She was sorry not to be able to help Mrs. Mae Stanley with the finishing of her State Quilt.
She is working on a Beggar's Patch and has it about half finished. She would like to exchange letters and blocks with anyone who would care to write to her.

Miss Mabel Tanner, 229 Chandler street, Romeo, Mich., would like to put in an SOS call for the pattern called "Joseph's Coat of Many Colors." Maybe some member has this and would be kind enough to send it to Miss Tanner. She will be glad to send patches in return for it.

She finished a Field of Diamonds quilt for Christmas and gave it to a friend. That certainly was a generous gift but I am sure that Miss Tanner enjoyed making every stitch of it.
