Wheel of Fortune
Mrs. Andrew P. Metz, 4602 Somerset avenue, is shown with her first quilt, which she brought to Friday's Quilt Club meeting. She began quilting two years ago and is now on her fourth quilt. The design pictured is the Wheel of Fortune.

Member's First Quilt Shown at Club Meeting
By Edith B. Crumb

When Mrs. Andrew P. Metz, 4602 Somerset avenue, arrived at the Quilt Club Corner meeting Friday she has with her the first quilt she ever made.

It was about two years ago that she decided she would like to make quilts. In the picture is shown the Wheel of Fortune quilt - the result of her first venture in quilt making.

The design is carried out in a variety of colors. The quilting on the white is in rose thread, while that on the colored patches is in white.

Mrs. Metz did not have a large frame so all on this was done on a quilting hoop. She has also made quilts from the Beggar's Patch and Windmill patterns and now is making a Double Wedding Ring top. We hope to see all of these in the next quilt show.

New Patterns
Mrs. Eva Shaub brought three quilt blocks Mrs. Leona Fletcher had just finished from the quilt patterns announced only last Sunday. One was Sunset Glow, one the Lucky Ivy, and the third When We Were Young. Mrs. Henry C. Reinhold also brought a block from the Lucky Ivy pattern.

The new members who joined yesterday were Mrs. Maxine Myers, 2188 Hillger avenue, Mrs. Margaret Devana, 5703 Linwood avenue, Mrs. Emma Sayre, 2229 West Grand Boulevard, Miss Beatrice Zumbro, 3833 Beniteau avenue, Carol Joyce Paxton, 11092 Sanford avenue (12 years old), Betty Jean Wilkinson, 11092 Sanford avenue (10 years old), Mary Lou Wilkinson, 11092 Sanford Avenue (9 years old), and Mrs. Frank Carter, Hillsdale.

Mrs. Carter is visiting in Detroit for a little while and we were happy to have her with us.

Cherry Messages
Several of the members are ill and need your cheery messages. They are Mrs. Amanda Bernier, 4822 Parker avenue, Miss Mary Gathers, 1628 Church street, and Mrs. Harry Patterson, 2632 Cass avenue.

Mrs. Grace Canaar, Route No. 2, Birmingham, who has been a member of the Quilt Club for five years, came to the meeting for the first time yesterday. I think now she has seen what a good time we have she will try to be with us often.
