You'll See It in Show
Mrs. Anna Zumbro, 3823 Beniteau, is shown with the quilt top which she designed to utilize odd shaped bits of prints. She calls it the Pin Wheel. You may look forward to seeing it at the big quilt show to be held at the United States Naval Armory, May 24, 25 and 26.

Quilters Designs Patterns to Use Up Small Scraps
By Edith B. Crumb

When Mrs. Anna Zumbro, 3823 Beniteau avenue, looked through a package of odds and ends of quilt materials she found so many of one shape that she decided to design a pattern around this.

She thought at first it would be a simple matter, but before she was through she had spent almost six hours on it. The pieces, as you will notice from the pictures, are little wedges with one curved and two straight sides.

Pin Wheel
Mrs. Zumbro worked these into a design which she calls the Pin Wheel. To cover up some of the irregularities of the lower part of the wedges a circular piece was appliqued in the center.

You make think at first, that this is an easy pattern to make because those wedges are just appliqued like the Dahlia pattern; but that is where you will be wrong, for they are pieced and this means that there is only one thickness of the top through which to quilt. That is why it was so difficult to get the pattern worked out.

If you want to see what may be done with odd shaped pieces of material - pieces you might throw away because you could not see any possibilities for quilt making in them - look for Mrs. Zumbro's quilt top at the big quilt show which is to be held May 24, 25 and 26 at the United States Naval Armory. I don't think she will have time to quilt it, but it will be interesting just to see the top this year.

She had another quilt top with her when she came to the Corner meeting last week. It was what she called a Gypsy quilt and was made up of all colors and designs of materials in diamond shaped pieces. This is very gay and she is making it for her son. The back will be plain blue materials. Here is another top which will be seen at the big show.

And, by the way, have you sent in your coupon yet? Please do this right away as we want to know the approximate number of entries for which to prepare space.
