A Verse for Scrap Book Contributed by Member

Well, how are your scrap books?

They must be getting quite full by now. I know that some quilt makers are on their third books and looking for something every day that will add to the internet of the pages and each is a history of this great big sewing circle- the Quilt Club Corner. Here is a little verse sent in by Mrs. Flouie Mohn, 201 Fauble St. Durand, Mich. I know you will enjoy it and clip it right out and put it in your scrap book before it gets mislaid.

I have quilts and have patches on my mind.

I've cut up all of the pieces I can find.

If I ever get the chance, I'll cup up hubby's shirts and pants. For I have quilts and I have quilt tops on my mind.

Mrs. Ella J Allison, 416 May street, Cadillac, Mich., wants to know if anyone has quilted the fan patter? If so she wishes the quilt maker would be kind enough to tell her how she did it. Or if someone has an idea as to how it should be done, she would be glad to have that, too.

Mrs. Allison thinks that because we are not always in the Sunday paper that there are isn't a Quilt Club Corner anymore. If she will look in the paper every Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday evening she will see that there certainly is one, an interesting one and it is getting bigger and better every day.

Dorothy Harris, 1480 Otis avenue, Hazel Park, Mich. has written in to say that she would lie to have us know that she has all the blocks completed to date from the Brother quilt and she is more than pleased with it. She is making it for a small sized bed, using only the 12 blocks of the toys and alternating with the tree blocks. She made an extra Scottie block to make it come out an even 25 blocks and plans to finish it with a four-inch border, using some of the materials like the trees.

This is the very first quilt she has ever attempted and she is so delighted with it that she is going to make a large one as soon as she finishes this one.

That's good news- and we feel sure that she will have several quilts for the next exhibit- if there is one and don't we hope that there is!

Corner Radio Hour.
Don't forget to tune in on WWJ tomorrow, Wednesday at 10:05 a.m. Have your pencil and paper handy so that you can jot down any address you wish to remember. And don't forget to drop a note to the Corner for the next radio hour which is a week from tomorrow.

How About This?
Dear Miss Crumb: Hurray! And now we are to have another radio party. I surely have been waiting for this good news. Let's hope it will be one of the outstanding programs on the air each week.

Since becoming a member of the News Club I have met several of the members and received letters, too.

I am just wondering if we can some way or somehow get a little button with these letters on it, "N Q,C" so that's when we are shopping or out in the public we will know a member at a glance and eliminate that thought, " I wonder if she is a member too." That way we can get acquainted with our big family and when the exhibit comes we will know one another and the display will be more of a home-coming. This is only a suggestion for you r consideration.

I will be waiting for you Wednesday morning and trust that more of our Club will be with me when you come on the air.

If any of the members living on the East Side have time I will be glad to have them visit me any Wednesday afternoon to spend the afternoon together.
Hazel Scott
12723 Glenfield, Detroit, Michigan

Well now, Mrs. Scott has suggested something new. How would you like to have a little Quilt Club Corner button to wear? This would not appeal to some and others might be delighted with the idea. So many like the cards that were worn at the Quilt Show last fall.

Anyway, I would like to know what you think about this and would appreciate it so much ig you would drop a little note or card as to your wishes regarding it.

No doubt there will be a new East Side Sewing Club start up before long for Mrs. Scott's invitation is bound to bring in a crowd of quilt makers together.

No Letters- No Radio!
Dear Miss Crumb: I surely was glad to hear that we are going to be on the air again and hope it will be for a mighty long time to come.

What is the matter with all the Club members that we don't have more letters in the Corner than we do? I am afraid that some of them didn't make one good resolution of writing to the Corner and keep up, home fires burning. Wake up, Cornerites and write some letters and maybe if you do, we will have a whole page for ourselves. Wouldn't it be something to be proud of? I, for one, intend to write as often as I possibly can. I want to congratulate the new little members of our club and wish her loads of luck. I wonder what her first quilt will be when she gets big enough to sew?

I am going to be right beside my radio next Wednesday morning and will be at home to no one until after the broadcast. So, members, let's all stick together and see how much better the next exhibit will be, and I am hoping it will be along larger than last year. Wishing all the members lots of luck in the New Year,
Mrs. Mary Strombilius
174457 Lumkin Ave, Detroit, Mich.

Letters like that certainly help and I hope that many, many of you will do just as Mrs. Strombilius has promised- to write often. No letters- no radio! Remember that! It's up to you!

Once these quilt makers get started they will keep on writing. I know. They were so nice about it last ear and I just feel that they are going to do twice as well this year.

Thank you for writing, Mrs. Strombilius.

Asks for Patterns.
Dear Miss Crumb: I am enclosing my name for membership in The Detroit News Quilt Club. I have three small children but always find time to work on quilts and am interested in anything that looks like a quilt. I missed the show on account of illness and had counted so much on going. I have finished a Dutch Girl quilt. I am working on the Butterfly pattern now. If any member has the Dutch Boy or Windmill I would surely appreciate getting it.

Is there a club in my neighborhood? How would one organize one?

Thank you so much for sending in your name for membership, and I hope that belonging to this club will mean many happy hours for you.

Perhaps someone who has a neighborhood club in your vicinity will get in touch with you. If not, watch for the names and addresses of those near you and then write and see If you can't organize a club yourself.

Last Blocks Ready for Children's Quilts

This is Johnnie's calico pony racing for first place on the Brother quilt, and not even his series No. 13 is going to keep him out of it. Ivy, the little lass on the sidelines, finds herself adorning leaflet No. 14 of the Brother-Sister series.

These leaflets are the last of the lot. On No. 14 are directions for piecing the entire body of the quilt.

When sending for these leaflets to Edith Crumb, Beauty in the Home Editor, inclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope for mailing. Or call in person at The Detroit News Public Service Bureau in the Majestic Building or the General Motors Building.
