Travis Jury Name on Quilt
Mrs. Delff is looking forward to returning to her home in Lansing where she expects to spend many pleasant hours making her pink and white checked quilt with the names of all of her jury friends embroidered on it.
Small, Pink White Squares Made into Unusual Cover

By Edith B. Crumb

When Mrs. Christian Delfs, 326 W Main St., Lansing, Michigan, was summoned to serve on the Traverse jury of the Federal Court she was just at a loss to know just how she might employ her spare time and so she decided she would have a quilt which would be reminiscent of the days she spent with her fellow jurors.

She passed out squares of cloth, some pink and some whit and each measuring six inches. Each juror was invited to write his or her name on one of the pieces of cloth and these were to be embroidered. Mrs. William Griffin, 2661 Commor Ave, Hamtrack, took him home for his daughter to embroider and it was when she brought the little pink square in to me to ask about embroidering it that I first hear about this quilt. Mr. Griffin was kind enough to see that Mrs. Delfs got in touch with me and she came over last Friday and brought all of the autographed blocks with her.

Pink and White Squares.
Some of those on the pink squares are embroidered in white and some in pink and those on the white squares are in pink. The names comprise the 92 members of the Traverse jury and 23 of the Grand jury, and judges Ernest A O"Brien, Arthur J Tuttle and Edward j Molnet wrote their names on their squares for this unusual quilt.

She will not forget her three months stay in Detroit and for some weeks to come she will have the members constantly on her mind when she is planning and making her quilt. I hope this will be finished for The Detroit News Quilt show in the fall. By putting it in this show all of the jury will have an opportunity of seeing the quilt and Mrs. Delfs would enjoy showing it, I am sure.

California Visitor.
Monday Morning, I had a Visitor-Mrs. WM Shoup, 202 Crane Avenue, Royal Oak. That is just her address for a few weeks. She lives at 1644 Seventh avenue, Los Angeles, California. Perhaps many of you remember that last year she was visiting in Detroit and brought a friendship quilt into the office and I had a picture of her and the quilt in the Corner. She has heard from many members since then and keeps up a correspondence with several. It's nice to know that quilt makers from such a distance think of us when they are in our city.

A Happy Surprise.
Dear Miss Crumb: Just a note telling you of the happy surprise I had Sunday. Mrs. Ethel Lawson and her husband called to see me and you can never imagine how pleased I was to see people from my own home town.

We had such a lovely visit together and I hope I will be able to meet more of the members. But Mrs. Lawson understands that I am tied down and that there is no chance to get away.

May 24 was my birthday and I wish it could have been so that I could celebrate in Detroit.

Portland, Michigan

How nice that was of Mrs. Lawson and her husband to call on you, Mrs. Lumbert. Mrs. Lawson if you can read this, will you please drop Mrs. Lumbert a card and tell her that her letter was read over the radiop and put in the paper? I do not know whether she is a listening ot not. I do hope the Mrs. Lumbert will be able to get to the show this fall. It is a pity such a social soul has to miss having sucha good time. Won't for the Quilt Club Corner just hum this fall? Many happy returns of the day, Mrs. Lumbert. I should say happier ones and many of them!

For a Little Girl.
Dear Miss Crumb: My, but that is a beautiful quilt-the Laurel Wreath! I am so surprised to hear that some think your program is too early. Even if you had it at midnight I would be Johnny-on-the-spot. Monday I wash and take my clock with me to the basement so as to be sure to be on time.

I found a way of getting my material for the new quilt. My birthday is June 15. Generally, mu daughter knows what I want but maybe she won't this year, so I am giving her a gentler hint to give me the material for it.

If you know a little girl that wants to make a small Dresden plate I will cut her enough patches for 16 blocks if she will send me her address.

Well, that is a very generous of you to offer to do that, Mrs. Beachroot, and now we'll see what little girl wants to make a quilt this summer.

Let us know who gets the patches please. And I hope that you received the new material for your birthday so that you can get a good start on the new Laurel Wreath pattern.

Name of Old Member Was Left Off List
Mrs. Mark Axford, 429 Walnut Blvd, Rochester, Michigan wrote in to say that she did not find her name among the old member and now that we are in the B's she thought that there must have been some mistake. And there was, but it must have been a long time ago for I could not find her name in the list. If any of you find that your names have not been included please let me know the same as Mrs. Axford has and I will have your card made that that your name will be on file. Today we have the names of seven old members and four new ones.
