15 Quilts in Three Years Were Made by Mrs. Haunch
Here's a New Member From Connersville, Indiana
Mrs. Hauch wanted the Quilt Club Corner readers to see the lovely quilt which she had just finished in yellow and white and to give them some idea of what it was like she decided to send a long a picture of it. Wasn't it thoughtful of her to go to so much trouble? But I am sure every quilt-maker will appreciate it.

By Edith B. Crumb.

You’ll never imagine how delighted I was to find this picture to the Quilt Club Corner mail one-day last week. Every day brings surprises, and good ones, too, and I’d like to share them with the readers so I know you will like this for your scrapbook.

The lady in the picture is Mrs. Charles Hauch 124 West Ninth Street, Connersville, Indiana and is showing a quilt which she has finished.

She was reading in the Corner about Mr. Albert Mathias making a quilt and she wanted us to know that she has made 15 in three years. Now she is interested in our Quilt Club Corner and wants to become a member and we are certainly delighted to have her.

Mrs. Hauch says that she just loves to sew, plan quilts and quilting; and the quilt shown is in yellow and white.

Before she made quilts she made comforters with fancy scroll work and don’t you think it was nice of Mrs. Hauch to send the picture of this attractive quilt up to use so that we could see it? And I am so glad that she was in the picture. We feel more acquainted because now, when we read her letters we will know just how she looks.

Last week members enrolled from Pennsylvania, New Mexico and Iowa, so you see were are beginning to reach way out with our quilting threads. Don’t you think it is interesting though?

From a 19-year-old Co-ed.
I have always felt that a quilt reflects the personality of the maker. I am eager to see the contrast between the quilts made by the very oldest and the very youngest of our members in our club. I am also interested in the choice of design and color combination by the male element in this contest.

As a novice in quilt making I have acquired much valuable information through the letters printed in the column.

I am 19 year old co-ed. What else would be more fitting that a modernistic skyscraper design with diagonal blocks and bold, clear colors? When I have live to find members and grandmothers of this corner have, perhaps I, too shall be able to make a fine flower garden or wedding or wedding ring with delicate workmanship.
H. Kay B.

You are going to have lots of surprise at the contest, Miss B., for even little girls do very fine sewing and the colors which the man select and the patterns which they create are very unusual so you may look forward to hours and hours of enjoyment. Be prepared to stat for a long, long time for it is not possible to see everything in a short time. Last year many came all three days and I know that if you come once you will not be satisfied unless you make another visit. Your sky scraper design sound very interesting so be sure to have it finished in time to enter it.

Wants to Join.
I have been reading your letters in the Quilt Club Corner and being interested I would like to become a member. But I have not seen any membership blank in the paper of late so I am taking the liberty of asking you to enroll me as a member so that I can enter the contest.
Mrs. Clara St. Marie.

It is a pleasure to enroll you as a member. Sometimes there is not room for a membership blank; but a card or note will do just as well. The blank is for those who do not wish to take the time to write a note. Thank you for writing in.

Intends To Make Trip.
I visited a friend in Detroit by the name of Mrs. Howard Petley and she showed me the quilt which she made of the pattern called the Trip Around the World which is one of your patterns.

I like the pattern very much and I intend to make one like it if I would be able to get the same pattern. I bought one of the large quilting hoops to work on.
Miss Cora Stoliker
1925 24 St., Port Huron, Mich.

If you enjoy making your Trip Around the World half as much as Mrs. Petley did hers, you will certainly be glad you selected that pattern and I know that you will find the hoops very satisfactory.

You certainly may have a pattern for that quilt. It is a very popular one and for that reason there is always a large stack of leaflets with that pattern. Be sure to finish your quilt in time for the contest.

$29,000

From a Romulus member.
Just a line to thank one and all for the nice letters and pretty pieces. I have exchanged pieces with a great many and I still will as long as they come.

I do love the Quilt Club Corner. There’s lors of fun in writing and exchanging pieces.

I live only a little way from Mrs. Fred Block. I heard from her.

I have pieced a Double Money Wrench and have a double t T as well as a fox and geese.

Well, I will be looking for more letters and pieces.

I would be glad to hear from some members down south.

Now, Mrs. Cordeu, I don’t see why you don’t have at least three quilts in the contest. We want Romulus well represented this year, for there are a good many Quilt Club Corner members living there.

I am glad that you have had such a happy time exchanging patches and hope that you will continue to do so.

Regarding Eligibility.
I am sending in my application to become a member of the Quilt Club. I am making a quilt “The Sunburst” which I would like to put into the show in the fall. Would you please let me know if it would be possible to enter this quilt in the exhibit? I haven’t seen all the News patterns and I am not sure if I could enter that pattern.

I am interested in the Quilt Corner and enjoy making quilts. It seems the more patterns you see the more you want to make. I have finished the Double Wedding Ring and I am making the Flower Garden quilt.
Mrs. B. A. McIlhargia
103 Arnet ave., Ypsilanti, Mich.

The sunburst is not a News pattern and unless it is an original design it will not be eligible. Perhaps you have an antique quilt or an old sampler you could enter.

You have made the Double Wedding Ring and that is a News pattern and so is the Flower Garden (not the Grandmothers Flower Garden) so I think that you would have two ready. And be sure to come.

Airplane Quilt Block Ready on Leaflet
Ever since quilts were pieces they have reflected the life of the day in which their makers lived. So a modern quilt must have a modern theme.

The airplane quilt block, especially suitable for a boys’ room, it the latest pattern of this Quilt Club. Directions for making it are now ready for you on a Quilt Club leaflet.
