Worlds Fair Rose Design Now Ready for Quilters
The Quilt Club Editor
From the very earliest quilt making times, designs were names for events, places, or objects. The Trail of the Covered Wagon, Rail Fence, Texas Rose, Old Town Pump, Cats and mice, Democrat Rose, Coronation etc. are all names which inspire you to weave little stories about them.

That is what we hope the new Detroit News quilt pattern will do in years to come.

It is called the World's Fair Rose because it was designed this year old two worlds Fairs-New York and San Francisco.

The design is very simple one but effective when the quilt is finished. The very center is a hexagonal piece just like those you used for Grandmothers Flower Garden Six Triangles for the petals and diamonds, and odd shaped pieces create the leaves.

Eight Inch Block
The finished block is only eight inches square and should be alternated with plain white squares. Every block can be a pieced one but it is not necessary and the quilt is really more attractive in the way suggested.

You may make it in good old fashioned turkey reds and bright greens or you may have a dainty color scheme. The pattern lends itself to varied colored plans.

If you wish all of the materials may be plain or you may combine plain materials and pints, but the green leaves will be best without design Little springed prints will make attractive patterns and be a delightful contrast to the plain green.

All of the blocks may be alike or you may have individual color schemes throughout. The alternating blocks be white or a plain color.
