Layout of Home is Compact

By Edith B. Crumb
Plain tinted walls, enameled wood work and compact layout have combined to create a delightful interior in the story and a half house which is the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Murray 15730 Mettetal Avenue.
On the first floor is a small entrance hall from which the inclosed stairway leads. The living room is on the fourth of this; the dining room and kitchen on the Southside and the breakfast bay directly back of the stairway. There are two bedrooms and a bath on the second floor.

The walls of the living room are soft beige and the woodwork and ceiling are off white. For the floor covering Mrs. Murray selected rose quartz carpeting in an interlacing fern leaf design and the window treatment is of floor length crisscross curtains of white dotted marquisette. Royal blue mohair covers the sofa and one chair, while beige ground tapestry has been used on another chair and a third which has an ottoman to match is in rich deep brown.

A Delightful Choice
The walls, woodwork, and ceiling, curtains, and floor covering of the dining room are the same as those in the living room and the furniture is mahogany. The Windsor style chairs are a delightful choice for this type of house, their informal blending with the atmosphere of the furnishing scheme.

The kitchen, the arrangement of which was very carefully planned by Mrs. Murray has cream walls, off white woodwork and a light blue ceiling. At the ceiling line of the walls is a narrow blue stenciled border. The cupboard interiors are light blue.
The floor is covered with ivory, blue, coral, and black marbleized linoleum (the ivory predominating) and there is a border of blue marbleized linoleum. The counters are of linoleum to match the main part of the floor. The window has steel sash, the sill is marble and ivory metal. Venetian blinds with Navy blue straps have been used in place of curtains.

Mahogany Furniture
The breakfast room walls, wood work floor, covering and ceiling are like those in the kitchen. The double hung windows have wood sash and these are treated with white ruffled dotted Swiss curtains. The furniture is mahogany and consists of a gate...(clipping cut-off)
