Chintz Bedspread
Could you suggest an inexpensive material for me to use to make a bedspread with flounce and bolster cover all in one? Would cretonne be all right? I was thinking of making this of a plain material, and also want to make a cover for the wardrobe trunk, leaving trunk open for dresses. The bed s of the Windsor style, painted brown, and has oval ends.
Mrs. M McM

Nothing would be more charming or appropriate for the spread to be used on your Windsor bed than a flowered chintz. This usually is made with a small flora design than cretonne and is especially attractive on this style of bed. You will find it much more interesting than plain material, and the trunk may be covered to match the spread and the trunk covering may be piped with plain material (Stateen or chintz) in a color to match the predominating shade in the design.

Slip Cover Colors
Will you please tell me what color to use for slip covers for a davenport and two chairs, one being a rocker and the other a club chair? The draperies are Chinese red ground in stripes of black and gold. The rug is a brownish taupe with a little bit of greenish blue in it.
Mrs. E.C.

A greenish blue ground chintz or cretonne would be very attractive for the slip cover to be used for the sofa and the club chair and the covering for the rocker may be of heavy plaid slip cover material in bright red, yellow, blue green and black.

Quilted Coverlet and Quilted Covers
Wouldn't you like to know how to make a pretty coverlet with a flowered top, quilted, and trimmed with a plain flounce? Of course you would, if you are interested in making your house look its best at small expense.
This coverlet is not only very attractive but it is filled with lamb's wool which makes it comfortable and it may be used for an outer spread of a chaise longue or single bed.

You may use anything from mercerized silk to brocade taffeta and no matter what you select, you will find the effect very charming.

There is also a triangular pillow made and trimmed to match the cover, thus giving a very delightful ensemble effect.
Several color schemes for entire bedrooms, including the right cover and pillow material to select are given on the leaflet for this week, and quantities of materials and full directions for the making o these are carefully given.

And, if you would like to know how to make some dainty organdie covers to be used for quilt protectors, you will be especially interested in this leaflet. Two different styles of these protectors are describe, and either of them would be dainty and colorful addition to any room.

Anyone wishing to receive this leaflet may have it by sending her request for it to the Beauty in the Home Department, The Detroit News, enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
