Lansing Quilt Block

September 1913
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
Entry for the capital of Michigan in the Hearth and Home State Capital series, 1912-1916: "Use three colors, dark, medium and light. The quilt is, of curse, prettier if uniform colors are employed throughout, but most housekeepers have scraps of cloth to be utilized, and in that case it is a good idea to make a certain portion the same color in every block; for example, the circles may bee all of one kind of goods, and will give an appearance of regularity. This is a very attractive design for chair-cushion, also, and may be used for either cotton, worsted or silk and velvet pieces. Sister Nell. North Detroit, Mich."
