Topeka Quilt Block

May 1915
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
Entry for the capital of Kansas in the Hearth and Home State Capital series, 1912-1916: "This block, which seems especially suited to represent 'The Sunflower State,' may be of two or three colors. If three are used the center and smaller points may be of one color, the larger points of another, and the remainder of white, or light. While rather more difficult to piece than a geometric design, it well repays the extra trouble. The blocks may be joined with plain squares or strips, as preferred. Mrs. H. M. B. Garfield, Kans."
