Grandmother's Irish Chain Quilt Block

December 1899
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
"Pieced of two colors, blue and white or red and white, this is very pretty; or it may be of any odd pieces, light and dark, that one happens to have. It will be seen that alternating blocks are of twenty-five small squares, then a plain white or light block, with a tiny square cut from each corner, and a dark square inserted. Or it may be cut just as shown by the illustration. It is all of pieced work. Mrs. E. S. Coras, Ark." Contributor's note: No. 65 in the Clara Stone catalog introduced May 1906, a selection of 188 designs published 1897-1905.
