Greek Cross Quilt Block

November 1902
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
"This block is one of my own designing, and looks best made in two colors, although scraps of dark and light goods may be utilized with good effect. For a quilt, it would not be advisable to make the squares less than 12x12 inches, as the pieces are so small; but a lovely cushion could be made of 4 blocks, each 10 inches square. For this, red and blue would be very pretty, red for the crosses, blue for the background and back." Contributor's note: No. 67 in the Clara Stone catalog introduced May 1906, a selection of 188 designs published 1897-1905.
