Lisa Gabbert, a doctoral candidate in Folklore and American Studies at Indiana University, is interested in the dynamic of tradition and cre­ativity in everyday life, particularly as manifested in folk art/material culture and narrative. Her dissertation research focuses on the ways in which people use objects and narratives to create different senses of community in the public sphere.
