Barbara Brackman was one of the first members of the American Quilt Study Group and is proud to be the author of the first paper in the first volume of Uncoverings. She is a free-lance writer who specializes in quilt history, women's history, and western history. Among her books are Americas Printed Fabrics, 1770-1890 and Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns. She is a member of the Quilters Hall of Fame and honorary curator of quilts at the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas.
