This department seeks to give assistance to all who are interested in beautifying their homes and will be glad to answer questions pertaining to interior decoration. In order to serve all who, seek advice promptly no more than three problems will be discussed in any one reply. Readers are invited to write to this department as often as they wish, but to limit each letter to three questions. State your question clearly write on only one side of the paper, enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope and address Beauty in the Home department, Detroit News. Letters with their answers will be published for the benefit of all homemakers but names and addresses will not be made public.

Cretonne or hand blocked linen with bouquet design is one of the most delightful fabrics which may be selected for the decorating of a bedroom, and just how charming a room may be is shown in the accompanying illustration.

The walls of a room such as this might be either painted or treated with a paper having a conventional design, and if the former were selected, a little tint of hydrangea blue would be very attractive, especially if this is a west room where a cool background is desired. The woodwork should match.

The floor covering might be a bit deeper that the walls and woodwork and the glass curtains of ivory net finished with hems and edged in a linen lace.

For the over-draperies shell pink ground cretonne or linen would be very delightful, the design in this having hydrangea blue as its predominating color. The head and foot board of the bed may be upholstered in the same material, and the spread also matching. The spread and draperies might be finished with a short fringe in mixed colors to harmonize with those in the design.

Another scheme for a room such as this might be one with pale peach walls, lime green floor covering, peach gauze glass curtains, peach ground cretonne with design it which lavender predominates the edging being in lavender and green.

For those who like light green as a background, the floor covering might be the same suggested for the second scheme, the walls and woodwork pale green, the back-...sill; and the over-draperies may be of orange and cream checked water-proofed gingham. These may be finished with green bindings and made to hang to the bottom of the apron.

Double Rose is 14th Block
The Double Rose is one of the prettiest flowers we could have in our garden, so it has not been forgotten as one of the designs for the Flower Garden Quilt. And here it is waiting for you this week, ready and anxious to be included in your very own Garden Quilt.

In all, remember, there will be 21 different block patterns for this quilt, 20 being used for the top, which will be four blocks wide and five blocks long. The extra block should have 16 made alike which will be for the border to fit on the two sides and the end.

Please remember, also-that from now on no notice for patterns will run over one week, so you must watch this column closely in order to keep up with the other quilt makers and have just as many blocks as they.

A number of readers have asked if blocks might be had in advance; but that is impossible. No envelopes will be held for future patterns. By asking for one pattern at a time you will receive the most prompt service. To receive this fourteenth pattern, the Double Rose, just send your request for it to the Beauty in the Home Department, The Detroit News, enclosing with it a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Copies of this leaflet may also be secured by calling personally at Public Service Bureau in the Majestic Building or General Motors Building.
