Bertha Stenge's quiltmaking legacy is large. She made over 50 quilts and won numerous prizes. She corresponded with quiltmakers, quilt historians, contest organizers, and fans. Many of those letters are in the Research Collections of the Illinois State Museum and over 290 pages of letters were added to the Quilt Index by the museum.

Stenge also appeared in many newspapers and magazines, both during and after her lifetime. Articles written by Joyce Gross for the Quilter's Journal were added to the QI as part of the Joyce Gross Quilt Collection at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas, Austin. Correspondence with Mary Gasperik was added to the QI by Gasperik's granddaughter Susan Salser. Two articles mention Stenge in issues of Uncoverings, submitted by the American Quilt Study Group. A kit quilt associated with Stenge was added to the QI through the Cuesta Benberry Kit Quilt Collection at the Michigan State University Museum. The QI is able to collect digital versions from many public and private collections and present them in one, free, online resource.
