Fenton, Michigan Signature Quilt
Fenton; Michigan; United States
Helen Marr Randall Carrick was a member of the church quilting group that made this quilt, on which they recorded their names and the names of their family members. It is not known why this quilt was made, or how Carrick came to own it, but it has been kept in her family for four generations. Carrick's daughter Mattie Jane McConnell, granddaughter Helen L. McConnell Eggert, and great-granddaughter-in-law Marlene A Eggert have all treasured this textile record of their ancestors. Dated May 3, 1890, the quilt provides a list of residents of Fenton, Michigan, which augments the official government census of the community.
