Claire and Ray Vlasin

Claire loved her family and especially her husband Ray. He supported her passion for quilts in many ways. When Claire and Ray built a new home in 2000, he made sure to have a special place for Claire and her quilts. The home's lower level was almost completely devoted to quilts and quiltmaking.

After taking a research trip to the Michigan State University Museum's collection center, he designed and built a special room for her quilt collection. It included state of th art rolling storage complete with archival tubes, supplies and breathable nylon to cover the quilts.

There is also a huge studio with lots of sunlight. There's a small kitchenette and washer and dryer. It was built especially so Claire would have all the storage she needed for her fabric stash and supplies, and plenty of space to host gatherings of her quilting friends.
