Mary E. Gale is an instructor and academic advisor at the University of Rhode Island. She has an M.S. in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design from the Univer­sity of Rhode Island. Her research interests include Eighteenth-Century fabrics and fibers. Other publication credits include a series of articles, "Textiles and the Environment from AATCC:" in Textile Chemist and Colorist 30, 31, 32 (1998-2000) with Martin Bride; and "Indigo-Resist Prints from Eighteenth Century America: Technology and Technique" CTRJ, 22(1/2), with Margaret T. Ordonez. Last fall, she involved her textile students in a community service project making quilts for terminally ill and traumatized children with Project Linus of RI.

Margaret T. Ordonez, Ph.D., is a professor of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design at the University of Rhode Island where she also serves as director of the Historic Textile and Costume Collection. A nationally known authority on textile conservation, she co-edited the book Down By The Old Mill Stream and wrote the chapter on printing technology.
